Welcome to Tayside Historical Tours website. We been providing high quality and low cost historical tours in Dundee and the surrounding area for six years, which makes us the longest established and most experienced tour guiding firm in this area.
The lead tour guide of Tayside Historical Tours, Anthony Cox holds a Ph.D in history from the University of Cambridge and is a former History Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. He has been actively involved in researching the social history of nineteenth and twentieth century Dundee and has spent the last year completing a manuscript for publication examining how the city's social development was affected by its close relationship with the Calcutta jute industry. He was involved in the BBC production of 'Brian Cox's Jute Journeys' as a historical consultant. Anthony also teaches local history at the Centre of Continuing Education at the University of Dundee. We hope you will take the opportunity to benefit from his wide experience of and passion for local history by joining him on the regular Dundee tour.
The guided tours of Dundee city centre are designed to reveal the history of the city of Discovery by looking at a hidden Dundee, which lies sometimes only a few feet behind the modern façade of the city centre. In this way, the colourful and sometimes bloody history of Dundee will be revealed and explained.
We also organise tours of historical Angus, involving visits to Pictish standing stones, hill forts, medieval castles and religious sites such as Restenneth Priory and Brechin Cathedral.
